2023 Team Roster

Quarterbacks

  • Tua Tagovailoa (6-1, 217, Alabama): Tagovailoa is entering his fourth season as the Dolphins' starting quarterback. He is a talented passer with a quick release and accurate arm. However, he has struggled with injuries and turnovers throughout his career.
  • Skylar Thompson (6-2, 220, Kansas State): Thompson is a seventh-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. He is a mobile quarterback with a strong arm. He is still developing, but he has the potential to be a solid backup to Tagovailoa.

Running backs

  • Salvon Ahmed (5-11, 197, Washington): Ahmed is a versatile running back who can catch the ball out of the backfield. He is also a good blocker.
  • Raheem Mostert (5-10, 205, Purdue): Mostert is a speedster who can break off big plays. He is also a good receiver out of the backfield.

Wide receivers

  • Jaylen Waddle (5-10, 182, Alabama): Waddle is one of the fastest players in the NFL. He is also a good route runner. He is expected to be the Dolphins' number one receiver in 2023.
  • Chase Claypool (6-4, 238, Notre Dame): Claypool is a big, physical receiver who can make contested catches. He is also a good blocker in the run game.
  • Tyreek Hill (5-10, 185, West Alabama): Hill is one of the fastest and most dynamic receivers in the NFL. He can break off big plays on any given snap.

Tight ends

  • Mike Gesicki (6-6, 245, Penn State): Gesicki is a big, athletic tight end who can make plays downfield. He is also a good blocker in the run game.
  • Durham Smythe (6-5, 250, Notre Dame): Smythe is a versatile tight end who can do it all. He is a good blocker and receiver.

Offensive linemen

  • Liam Eichenberg (6-6, 306, Notre Dame): Eichenberg is a second-year left tackle who is still developing. He has the potential to be a solid starter.
  • Connor Williams (6-5, 310, Texas): Williams is a free agent signing who played left guard for the Dallas Cowboys in 2022. He is a solid blocker who can also move well in space.
  • Austin Jackson (6-6, 320, USC): Jackson is a third-year right tackle who has been inconsistent throughout his career. He is still developing, but he has the potential to be a solid starter.
  • Robert Hunt (6-5, 335, Louisiana): Hunt is a versatile lineman who can play guard or tackle. He is a good blocker in both the run and pass game.
  • Michael Deiter (6-5, 305, Wisconsin): Deiter is a center who is entering his fourth season in the NFL. He is a solid blocker who can also snap the ball accurately.

Defensive linemen

  • Bradley Chubb (6-4, 268, N.C. State): Chubb is a pass rusher who can also stop the run. He is a valuable addition to the Dolphins' defense.
  • Raekwon Davis (6-7, 325, Alabama): Davis is a big, physical defensive tackle who can stop the run. He is also a good pass rusher.
  • Christian Wilkins (6-4, 315, Clemson): Wilkins is a versatile defensive tackle who can play inside or outside. He is a good pass rusher and run stopper.

Linebackers

  • Jerome Baker (6-2, 225, Ohio State): Baker is a versatile linebacker who can play all three positions. He is a good tackler and pass rusher.
  • Channing Tindall (6-2, 230, Georgia): Tindall is a third-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. He is a fast, athletic linebacker who can rush the passer and cover in space.
  • Andrew Van Ginkel (6-4, 240, Wisconsin): Van Ginkel is a pass rusher who can also play in coverage. 

    Van Ginkel is a versatile linebacker who can play all three positions. He is a good tackler and pass rusher. He is also a good athlete who can cover running backs and tight ends in space.

    In 2022, Van Ginkel had 62 total tackles, 5 sacks, and 2 forced fumbles. He was also a key contributor on special teams, where he blocked a punt and returned a fumble for a touchdown.

    Van Ginkel is a rising star on the Dolphins' defense. He is expected to be a key player on the team in 2023 and beyond.

  • Cornerbacks

    • Byron Jones (6-1, 195, UConn): Jones is a shutdown cornerback who is one of the best in the NFL. He is a good tackler and ball hawk.
    • Nik Needham (5-11, 190, UTEP): Needham is a versatile cornerback who can play outside or inside. He is a good tackler and ball hawk.
    • Noah Igbinoghene (6-0, 190, Auburn): Igbinoghene is a second-year cornerback who is still developing. He has the potential to be a solid starter.

    Safeties

    • Jeiel Horn (6-1, 200, South Carolina): Horn is a third-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. He is a versatile safety who can play in the box or deep. He is a good tackler and ball hawk.
    • Brandon Jones (5-11, 190, Texas): Jones is a free agent signing who played safety for the Dallas Cowboys in 2022. He is a good tackler and ball hawk.

    The Dolphins have a young and talented roster that is on the rise. If Tagovailoa can stay healthy and develop into a top-tier quarterback, the Dolphins have the potential to be a playoff team in 2023.
